IN PREPARATION FOR NEXT SEASON...

Tryouts are less than 70 days away! That might seem like a long time but in reality it is not. However that is plenty of time for you to get yourself in the best shape possible to be prepared for tryouts and the season. Below is a list of things that you can do outside of the gym to prepare yourself for the upcoming season. 

  • Go for a run
  • Work your core. Your could do planks, sit ups,leg lefts. 
  • Yoga or Pilates - there are lots of videos on line
  • Calf raises 
  • Jump rope
  • Squats or Wall Sits
  • Strech
  • Push ups
  • Go on a bike ride (be sure to wear a helmet!)
  • Strengthen your hands by squeezing a tennis ball or expanding a rubber band. 
  • Play catch (tennis ball, softball, baseball, football)
  • Agility Ladder Drills - Even without a ladder you can still do the footwork
  • Lift Weights
  • Swim
  • Set to yourself. Set off your roof
  • Pepper with a friend
  • Burpies
  • Drink lots of water
  • Attend camps and open gyms
  • Study the game of volleyball by watching videos
The bottom line is, there is plenty that you can do outside of the gym to prepare yourself. Southwestern volleyball will be working harder to strengthen our bodies before and during the season!
